MELBOURNE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 12, 2002--AirNet Communications Corporation (Nasdaq:ANCC), the technology leader in software defined base station products for wireless communications, today announced that it has received approximately $1.5M in expansion purchase orders from TECORE Wireless Systems for deployment in the Afghan Wireless mobile network. These orders are for the purchase of AirNet's latest product, the Triple Capacity Digital AirSite(R) Backhaul Free(TM) base station, commonly known as the "Trip Cap" and installation/commissioning services.

"Together with TECORE, AirNet has played an important role in the reconstruction of communications in Afghanistan," said Shiblie O. Shiblie, chief operating officer of TECORE. "With the introduction of Trip Caps into this market, AirNet has yet again proven it has the perfect solution for operators implementing both coverage and high capacity applications."

"In conjunction with our industry leading SDR technology, our core strengths include our people and their commitment to excellence," said Bill Lee, vice president of operations for AirNet. "The AirNet 'Services' team has provided exceptional product and technical support during the installation and commissioning of this first phase of deployment in Afghanistan. I expect that level of performance to continue."

In March 2002, TECORE placed approximately $10M in purchase orders with AirNet for deployment of an initial system in Afghanistan. Afghan Wireless has turned on service in Kabul, Herat, and Mazar-i-Sharif. Other regional markets are scheduled to come on line later this year. AirNet and TECORE personnel have been "in-country" over the last six months deploying the initial system for Afghan Wireless.

PRESS RELEASE: AirNet Commun Completes Asian Field Trial

MELBOURNE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 23, 2002--

Large Operator Purchases AirNet Base Station System with Latest
Triple Capacity Digital AirSite Technology

AirNet Communications Corporation (Nasdaq:ANCC), the technology leader in
base station products for wireless communications, today announced a large
international telecommunications firm has purchased an AirNet(R) base
station system and commercially deployed it in its GSM network in Asia.
This telecommunications firm has a customer base approaching 1.5 million
subscribers. This initial GSM system, purchased after the successful
completion of an extensive trial using it, consists of an AdaptaCell(R)
broadband, software-defined base station, multiple Triple Capacity Digital
AirSite(R) Backhaul Free(TM) base stations and associated equipment
amounting to approximately US$500,000.
"During my time in Asia with this customer, I was surprised at how rural
markets, previously not serviced by this customer, quickly responded to
newly installed cell sites utilizing the AirSite Backhaul Free base
station," said Bill Lee, Vice President of Operations of AirNet. "To assist
this customer with its sudden capacity issue, we recently shipped them a
number of TripCaps. Amazingly, we were able to install, commission and
receive final acceptance in one day from our valued customer. There is no
doubt that the TripCaps provided much needed additional capacity quickly
and efficiently in this rural area. Our customer has indicated they are
pleased with the product and the operational and performance benefits it
provides."
Recently introduced to the market, the Triple Capacity Digital AirSite
Backhaul Free base station, known as the "TripCap," is AirNet's latest
generation of the original AirSite that won the coveted award for best
technical innovation from the GSM association. In addition to supporting
GPRS and EDGE Services, the TripCap is compact, easy to install, and
capable of being configured and managed from any remote operations center.
This small, lightweight, compact base station providing three times the
capacity of the original version is the perfect solution for rapid
expansion in the most difficult geographic service areas.
This deployment represents interconnection with our seventh different MSC
vendor, further demonstrating that our AirNet product solutions easily
`bolt-on' to an incumbent suppliers' network. This multi-vendor
"plug-and-play" aspect of the AirNet solution allows operators to easily
expand their network's coverage area without having to modify their
existing Network Switching System. Even more importantly, it will allow
existing operators who have run out of alternatives for expanding their
capacity to turn to AirNet for its Super Capacity(TM) solution by
"bolting-on" to their existing network without having to deploy additional
expensive cell sites.
"We allow operators to optimize their networks by offering both ends of
the capacity spectrum, ranging from the cost effective coverage SDR
solution to the recently demonstrated revolutionary Super Capacity(TM) base
station," said Glenn Ehley, president and CEO of AirNet. "The AirNet
solution is ideal for easily enhancing any existing GSM network."
This is the third Asian operator to purchase AirNet products in recent
months. Two other system sales in Asia were previously announced on
November 16, 2001 and March 8, 2002.
