thank you for the links. that chat happened just down the hill from me, it would have been interesting to hear it in the flesh. the sad truth is most wars seem to be more about domestic issues than anything else. i have trouble seeing this any different.

but...i'm willing to listen to the arguments...

"I will defend Scott Ritter and promote his writings and public presentations."

Of course you will. Just as you would defend the murderers who brought down the World Trade Center on 11 September:

"Just what in the hell do you think the martyrs blew up the WTC towers for? Because of attitudes like yours. Figure it out and grow up."

Your fellow American, Raymond G. Duray

The funny thing is that Ritter charged that the UN Security Council undermined UNSCOMM by not taking measures when Iraq blocked inspections in 97 and 98. He was also critical of operation Desert Fox which was the US attempt to bomb Iraq back to sanctioning inspections. You can't really run inspections when you have members from various countries friendly with Iraq, such as the Russians who essentially trained Saddam in the Stalinist techniques. Remember there was the news in the media that the Iraqis were getting tipped off on the inspections.
