Perhaps they ran a few hundred wafers through in rocket and they wouldn't scale to above the PR rating of 2800+. So they decided to go back to the drawing board.

This Hammer is starting to remind me of the K5 and Timna.

At leat we now know why Sun choose Intel instead of Clawhammer for their lastest server line.
