You are welcome to hang from a rope waiting for IBM to catch up to Sun Microsystems, or FW Woolworth, for that matter.

It's OVER for IBM. It HAS been, for many many years.

Get over it...

Now McNealy admits publicly for the first time ever that Sun may well be obliged to contract; IBM, on the other hand, just bought PWC. I think IBM is already impending. If Itanium beats its odds and manages to climb out of its hole (which room222 correctly has pointed out is actually made easier by the IT downturn), that's another big problem.

Hmmm, good point on IBM and PwC.

Let me ask this- re: Itanium, what would be the O/S you would use with an Itanium box, Linux?
