Saeed continued that there is great awareness inside the Palestinian society that solving the conflict requires cooperation with peace groups in Israel, and the prevailing idea now is that the "suicide attacks" against Israel bring in negative consequences.<<

Hopeful, if true. Unfortunately, the peace groups in Israel have mostly imploded. Two years of indiscriminate suicide bombing tend to have that effect. At least the suicide attacks are now being associated with negative consequences -- so much for 'there is no military solution, violence will only strengthen Arafat'.

As for the cigarette lighters commemorating the destruction of the Twin Towers, I see the Palestinians are continuing their charm offensive. Wait until they dance on the rooftops for Saddam. Which they will; Saddam has been spreading cash around the West Bank and Gaza like an old-fashioned ward heeler spreading walking-around money on election day.
