nForce2

It looks like nForce2 launch will coincide with the release of 333 MHz FSB chip(s) - 2700?

xbitlabs.com

It looks like first half of October.

Petz, thread,

Last time I looked, AMD had about $1B in cash and $1B in current liabilities. With negative cash flow I wonder how long it will be before the Wall Street starts screaming about AMD's liquidity situation.

Is there another shoe to drop? Add Fujitsu/FASL loans and I can't figure out any entry point right now that I would be comfortable with.

Can someone with basic understanding of balance sheet accounting post thoughts, analysis?

Kap

Dear Petz:

That is not what they did. They added additional decoupling capacitors within the chip itself to reduce switching noise and improve S/N ratios. They changed the design rules to spread things out some more to prevent cross talk, etc. This takes extra die area, but improved speeds so much that the loss in die per wafer was more than made up for in speeds and ASAP for a wafer went up.

Hammer and Barton did not see this makeover because they wanted to try it on Tbred. It worked out so well that to not spread the changes to the rest of their CPU family was thought to be worth the three month delay. I would have appreciated them saying so (corporate secrecy is too high under Ruiz).
