I guess it's okay for him if people spend themselves into a deficit but not okay for the politicians. After all, he's publicly urged people to do cash-out refi's. It looks like both the politicians and greenspan are starting to point fingers.

I think you are right -- he's going for immortality. I think he'll get it, but not for the grandiose reasons he imagines.
