Why would they want to spend money on a company that can't make a profit? Surely Dell could better spend that money investing in their own profitable business???

it never fails. the investors in a broken company ALWAYS hope that they will be bailed out their MESS by somebody. It won't happen.

Without Mc Nealy, the assets of Sun would quickly deteriorate to worthless. IBM can never buy their way back to respectability, they are dead meat. And Michael Dell is nothing but a glorified used-car salesman...
