Actually, both you and CB are incorrect. We don't run any military vehicles on gasoline (except maybe a generator or pump). Most run on diesel (with most trucks possessing multi-fuel capability).

They run on a special formulation called JP-8 which is formulated to avoid "waxing" problems associated with Diesel when operating in cold environments.

Or course, in garrison they generally use diesel. But in a combat environment it's essential to limit the types of fuel you have to manage and handle, hence the creation of JP-8:

Things have changed since you were in the service Lindy.. (we got rid of the horse cavalry.. :0)

Oh, and btw, Winter in Iraq is an average 51 degrees farenheit. Certainly not enough to create any fuel problems, but sufficient to reduce heat exhaustion casualities.
