Obviously, you don't get out much... and don't follow 'current events'.

Any history of Desert Storm and it's aftermath, any news pieces (Time magazine, NYT, BBC, Wash Post, CNN... any!) on the Kurdish slaughter could refresh your memory.

...He promised full American support for the an uprising. It wouldn't have happened without his promise... and they were allowed to be slaughtered. The CIA agents were pulled out and support was halted while civilians were being machine gunned by Saddam's forces from helicopters.

You don't renege on a promise of a nation's support... without doing great damage to the nation's (and the Presidency's) reputation.

JLA, thought I'd ask here for a link to the post on SI in which R. Duray did what you say he did.

Message 17981944

Did any of those who archive Duray posts happened to save one in which he "claimed that the people who died in the towers deserved their deaths"?

It's so horrible and bizarre a thing to say that I have trouble believing that that's a quote and not an 'extrapolation' from, or 'interpretation' of, another statement.

JLA, Ish's recollection is that it wasn't Duray, but another poster, who "claimed that the people who died in the towers deserved their deaths."

Anybody got a link to this?

(I'm assuming at this point it wasn't Duray.)
