jttmab,

Agreed. The Bush record on trade and subsidies is rife with hypocrisy and political calculation. One minor bright spot is that the steel tariffs were so punitive and idiotic that the Bushistas have had to roll back a significant portion of their scheme to win steelworker votes.

The US does not as it says like free trade, or competition. Much like most of us when we are in control.
I have read at two different times this year how OBL was favouring an Argentinian Company to build the pipeline through Afghanistan as opposed to Unocal. What happened ?---
Afghanistan was bombed ruthlessly and OBL unseated and replaced by Karzai and friend who reportedly were ex Unocal "consultants", and when Argentina fell on tough times the US controlled IMF snubbed it while still agreeing to lend more to it's neighbours , Brazil, and Ecuador....coincidence?
