I think the discussion may have a real-world impact, Mary.

Depending on their popularity and depth, opinions, anger, and hostility can impact the course of the prosecution and trial.

A few eloquent posts here can sway one or two, whose being swayed may sway 10 more, some of whom may have been pressing upon the prosecution.

Clearly national opinion is moving toward wanting to ensure that those accused of 911 involvement are treated with objectivity and fairness, which is a shift from the earlier hysteria.

I believe this has had a major impact on Tony's case. And the national opinion shifts are caused by thousands of people discussing with one another. I have to believe Judge Dearie is affected by it, not to mention the recent court decisions against the Justice Department.

Discussion is good - things are real bad when people don't feel free to express their opinion as when the tyrrany of the majority or the verbally violent overcome the minority and the peaceful.

I think a lot of the discussion about Tony's case was really about politics, mixed in with the scammers trying to get the guy stopped.

Peter

Mary,

Actually, I pretty much agree with your post. No one is 100% objective. Never said I was.

If you follow the thread of my posts you will see that the main theme of my posts is to take issue with statements of opinions that are not backed by facts or carefully reasoned arguments.

It's absolutely true that you are entitled to your opinions. It's absolutely true that you have no obligation to back those opinions if you don't wish to. Nonetheless, I would strongly urge you to make the effort anyway.

Obviously, you will not alter the opinions of those who have already made up their minds, but I believe there are quite a few people following this thread who don't know Elgindy or are undecided about his current circumstance and would appreciate a stronger more believable presentation of his case.

The only way I know to do this is to adhere rigidly to the facts and minimize the unfounded speculations and conjectures.

If you can't or won't your posts are no better than moneymadetrader's.
