"BTW, IMO, both Nortel and Lucent are junk companies for the next 12 months. So I'm not trying to make one or the other look any better cause IMO they are both junk."

Wasn't that what I was trying to tell you Sylvester for the longest time? As I have told you repeatedly, until the Wcom's, France Telecom's, BT, Deutche Telecom's, Qwest's, etc.etc. START to stop their losses & cashflow problems, CAPEX ain't going to be revived -- in fact CAPEX will be hacked to death until prices firm up, more telcos go bankrupt and there is a REAL disruption to service levels to the point that the market will have to accept higher prices.

In other words, watch the Carriers before you waste more time analyzing how LU or NT is going to make their comeback. The vendors can't force demand to happen no matter how much they restructure....Vodafone's & Verizons are going to have to get their act straight before the equip vendors see the light...

either LU or NT will go bust....the odds favor NT surving and LU going bust -- by far. Of course there is an outside chance that BOTH will go bust before capex recovers! in which case CSCO will be laughing all the way to the bank...

That assumes Nortel's 10% estimated decline stays at a 10% decline when it is reported. Mark my words it won't.

Looks like I was right...
