The Shrubbo WagDog Show: "The Betrayal of America"
Excellent writing from a true patriot....
Special note to RWE hypocrites: So, go ahead. Call us names and attack us for our beliefs, you right wing nuts! You are just proving that we have the truth on our side and it frightens you!

Abiding Anger Southern Style by Rebecca Knight
Maybe this article is late in coming. Maybe it should have been written for the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, but the anniversary of that date was a difficult time for this writer. Some readers have sent messages questioning the lack of anger in my 9/11 article. The column written in remembrance of that horrific day, "Days of Infamy," was a struggle. The words would not come easily because honoring the lives lost and the lives changed forever seemed much more important than expressing the deep frustration felt towards the catastrophic Bush administration.
Make no mistake about it. There lives deep within millions of Americans an abiding anger that is overwhelming and all consuming. We will never forgive or forget the travesties inflicted upon us by the Bush family and those complicit in their deceit within the Republican Party. We awaken every day with the weight of what we consider a nightmarish existence.
Call us anti-American. Call us traitors. Call us liberal socialist commie pinkos. We don't give a damn what the right wing nuts think of us. We know what we are. We know what we believe and we have the courage of our convictions. We know that we have within our hearts, minds, and souls a love of America that will never allow us to remain complacent about wrongs forced upon us by those who would silence us. We will fight that latest incarnation of fascism. We will protest, write letters, make phone calls, speak up, and VOTE. If only we could believe that our votes will be accurately counted!
The resident of the White House sits in the Oval Office through a coup perpetrated on the American people. There is no question that he lied to the American voters in campaign 2000, re-inventing himself and his record in Texas, spreading lies and innuendo about Al Gore, misrepresenting Democratic positions, and painting a false image of himself as a "compassionate conservative." What a crock! What a crook! "Compassionate conservative" is the epitome of oxymoron. The dictionary should be revised to include "compassionate conservative" as the very definition of oxymoron.
George W. Bush is an impostor, an illegitimate president, anointed by the Felonious Five of the United States Supreme Court. Just as surely as the sun rises every morning, the fix was in and the Republican Party eagerly supported and cooperated with the fix! Republicans who knowingly and willingly helped make Bush president through lies and manipulation of the voting process are nothing short of criminal.
Who can ever forget the button-down collared, khaki clad, loafer-wearing rioters in Miami? Their actions were illegal! The Republican Party brought participants across state lines for the sole purpose of disrupting the election process, but they were never charged with any wrong. Only Democrats are charged, like the Chicago Seven in 1968.
Who can ever forget James Baker of the Bush I administration and the Carlyle Group standing in Florida before the television cameras and lying to the world about the votes being counted, recounted, recounted, and recounted? He knew he was lying. He knew there was never a single recount completed. Not even the legally mandated machine recount immediately following the election that closed the margin to a few hundred votes was completed, as about 16 of 67 counties simply turned in the same totals they compiled on Election Day. One has to wonder if they had done what the law required, would Gore have taken the lead by a slim margin reversing the roles, with Bush having to ask for manual recounts?
Baker also knew that Gore was within his legal rights to select counties for a manual recount, but he portrayed it as unfair. And other Republicans, like Mark Racicot --rewarded for his talking head part in Florida by being named to head the RNC -- spun the story like whirling dervishes. They used a rope-a-dope, slow down by any means possible, run out the time strategy and it worked. What jerks!
On the night that Katherine "Cruella" Harris announced her decision not to extend the manual recount deadline, Republican strategist and former Reagan campaign manager Ed Rollins was appearing on Geraldo Rivera's show. When she announced her decision Rollins looked aghast and said, "She can't do that." Perhaps it was the only time a Republican was heard to speak the truth on national television during the whole debacle. But Harris did "do that" and she got away with it.
Katherine "Cruella" Harris and Jeb Bush should be charged and prosecuted for election fraud. The state of Florida recently settled the civil suit brought against it by the NAACP regarding denial of voting rights. If that is not an admission of guilt, nothing is. The only reason to settle and stop the lawsuit is to protect against more facts coming out and to avoid more damaging publicity. Yet, the media has largely ignored this story, complicit again in keeping the truth from the American people.
So, Mr. Illegitimate Resident, usurper of all that is dear to American voters, takes office and proceeds with his agenda of tax cuts, anything-but-Clinton, and do-nothing foreign policy. Records show that Clinton's administration warned Bush's that terrorism was a high priority. What did Bush do? He ignored the Hart-Rudman report and made Cheney responsible for the administration's efforts against terrorism. Apparently Cheney did nothing. All warnings of terrorist attacks in America were ignored or mismanaged and the result was 9/11.
Since 9/11, the Republican Party has challenged the Democratic Party to not politicize the "war on terrorism" and then proceeded to do exactly that themselves, using it to their advantage at every possible opportunity. Karl Rove's speeches and documents confirm that they will use the "war" success in campaigns.
Bush, Cheney, Ashcroft, Rumsfeld, and a compliant Congress cut back on our civil liberties, frightened us with terrorist warnings, denied legal rights to alleged terrorist suspects, and generally made the United States look like big bullies. They should take the Patriot Act and stick it where the sun doesn't shine.
And the chickenhawks should shut their mouths about attacking countries with weapons of mass destruction. Many countries have weapons of mass destruction. Are we going to attack Russia, Pakistan, China, etc.? No? Could it possibly be that Iraq is a target because Shrub wants to show up Poppy by getting Saddam? Or could it be that the rich and powerful oil businesses closely tied to Bush and Cheney want access to Iraq's oil reserves?
Many believe that the ceremonial remembrances of 9/11, while dignified and deserved, were slightly overdone. Bush's use of them to build his image as a leader was a disgrace. When he appears, many televisions are clicked off or the channel is changed. One year later, what has changed? Do we feel safer? Do we think the Bush administration sincerely wants to protect American citizens? Do we think a war on Iraq is justified or necessary right now? NO! Do we think that the Bush administration will use any situation, including the travesty of 9/11 to further its political agenda? YES!
We, who question the motives and legitimacy of the Bush administration, stand united with indignation and abiding anger. We will continue to question, investigate, read, and learn about actions taken by an administration we do not trust. We do so not out of political animosity simply because we disagree with Republican philosophy, but because we sincerely care about our nation. We do so because it is not only our right, it is our patriotic duty.
Yes, we are angry and we will stay angry until we have a duly elected president who will make decisions based upon ideals of what is right and just, instead of what will benefit his agenda.
So, go ahead. Call us names and attack us for our beliefs, you right wing nuts! You are just proving that we have the truth on our side and it frightens you! |
