" I couldn't present a case if I wanted to.

True Mary, and conversely no one here can present the case against Elgindy either. None of this information is available to any of us. This is exactly why I have urged everybody to wait for the trial so that we may see the evidence. At that point editorial comments are understandable and inevitable.

So many of your posts reflect your own wishful thinking, but more to the point, I don't think you are doing Elgindy a service by putting forth a series of weak reasons for his innocence.

If I may illustrate. For instance, your comments:

"I personally believe that the governments case is probably not that strong...

Well, the government did arrest two of their own Agents. They must think they have something.

"The government knew no one shorted 911."

How do you know? I am inclined to think you are correct, but I suspect the investigations are still on-going.

"The government probably or at least should have read his thread and seen what he felt about 911

Like you, I believe that the 911 allegations were inappropriate, but let's pretend for a moment they're not. Isn't it within the realm of possibility that a dishonest individual would intentionaly make posts on his website feigning shock and loyalty to the republic? The fact is that what Elgindy said on his website regarding 911 isn't relative to the charges that have been filed.

The goverment knew he was trying to help them look for funny trades.

Same kind of answer I gave above. MIght not a dishonest individual pretend to help the FBI? This is exactly what got Richard Jewel in trouble with the FBI when he discovered that bomb at the Atlanta Olympics. To the FBI he seemed overly eager to go out of his way to be helpful and the FBI actually got suspicious because they've had similar cases where the guilty perp feigned helpfulness towards their investigation. As it turned out Richard Jewel was completely innocent and nothing more than a big helpful oaf who didn't know when to shut up.

"The government knew he didn't liquidated any accounts or add any short positions"

This would be very important if he were charged with foreknowlege of 911, but he wasnt'.

Mary, I'm not trying to nitpick you to death, but I am trying to make the point that none of the above things help convince us that the government has no case.

Let's wait for the evidence. Hopefully, this trial will begin soon and we'll all have a better sense of what happened.
