I did the same thing, but had a slightly different result. Now, every time I double-click a pdf file, Acrobat Reader opens up and tells me that it isn't configured to be the default reader for pdf files and asks me if I'd like to make it the default. I've been saying yes every time, but it keeps on asking.

I think I'll just convert back to using Preview and tell Acrobat to shut up.

PS: Update. I just opened a pdf file, and told Acrobat not to make itself the default. I then closed Acrobat, and double-clicked another pdf. Acrobat opened up and didn't ask any questions. Weird.
