Re: Which would they rather have ...

Well, at least we'll have a 2700+ or 2900+ to face 3ghz P4 for the holiday selling season, instead of the 2200+ facing 2.8ghz P4, which is what we have now.

It turns out all the hammer hype was rather unfortunate, since it has drawn attention away from Thoroughbred B's success.

"Which would they rather have a 2.0GHz CH (3400+), 13 weeks from now (12/14/02) or a 2.5GHz CH (4400+), 16 weeks from now (1/4/03)? Which would each of you (not just Kash) choose?"

Come on - this is not a mutually exclusive decision. I'd rather have a 2.0GHz CH 13 weeks from now, followed by a 2.5 GHz 2 months after that.

The fact is that AMD has blown it. Athlon was a fluke - AMD is back to its normal ways. It has caused a whole bunch of partners to invest, and is now set to completely disappoint them. This is probably the end of AMD.

I am, unfortunately, very long on AMD. I have taken a mind-boggling loss on this, and had pinned my hopes on Hammer. The only reason I am not bailing right now is that compared to the losses I have suffered, the stock going to 0 won't make much of a difference. But certainly, I have written these morons off...

Pete, isn't it still a fact that two additional interconnect layers were added between Rev A and B? And the Clawhammer was always anticipated to have those layers?
