B, I can't dismiss anything that you say there. But I do think that there is more to Vargas. If he can learn to be a better boxer (rather than just a fighter) and if he can do something about his conditioning, he can extend his career.

Maybe just wishful thinking on my part, but I really hate to see a fighter with a huge heart and who has some great potential, have his career fall apart so early.

That's one of the inherent tragedies of the sport, as I see it. A guy can take one or two solid shots and, thereafter: even though he might become twice as fit, become twice as fast and strong, and demonstrate twice as much courage than he'd ever shown, he'll be completely ineffective from then on. This was most cruelly demonstrated with former US Olympic team boxer-turned-pro Michael Bennett recently.
