If this has been hidden, it has been hidden in plain sight. Oil is not the primary driver to oust Saddam, but sheesh, once we have addressed the security issues it sure is a nice second act.

Iraq's neglected assets will provide enough opportunities for Russia, EU and the US oil companies to share.

As the globe reaches peak production in oil over the next 10 years or so, many of the OPEC nations will be the only countries that still have not reached peak production. The values of their reserves will balloon and we will be screwed in the USA if we have not prepared ourselves. I fear we are already to late for a big shock.
