Indeed, another leg of the technology downturn now looks likely. Predictions of stabilisation and a rebound in demand have been founded on little more than wishful thinking.

This isn't true, software at least has stabilized, *enterprise* networking (not the carrier side) and b2c ecommerce is actually growing at a fairly robust pace this year. (remember in 1998 b2c e-commerce was driving the entire naz while software was tanking so b2c was considered a large space, then).

The really sick side is carrier capex, which was a pretty large portion of tech spending across the board, so if software is able to manage itself without this key vertical then thats pretty good.

Not a boom mind you, but not another leg down unless you are sunw or one of the really sick companies.
