I agree. But, and this may not surprise you, my wife and I were most struck by the level of luxury which must have prevailed in Bar Harbor before automobile transportation made the area more accessible. And, obviously, by the Rockefellers basically owning Seal Harbor and much of what is now Acadia. That's the bad news. The good news is that they turned their portion over to form the national park. And persuaded others to do so. Can't wait to ride the carriage roads.
