People may not be claiming that it will be quick and easy, but I have seen many posts here that seem to assume that it will be. Certainly there seems to be very little discussion, either here or at the policy level, of what the difficulties will be, how they can be dealt with, and – most important – their ramifications in the fight against terrorism.

Well in all fairness I think we've all been caught up in the Ifs and the Buts and not the What Nows. ;) Doesn't mean no one is concerned. And just because the Administration isn't airing its internal conversations doesn't mean it isn't having any.

I am not convinced that it is within our power to alleviate Arab backwardness, any more than it is in our power to bring order to Africa. The reasons why are explained in some exorbitant detail in the later stages of this post

The problem is Steven, *I* don't believe we have any choice but to TRY. I certainly do not think waiting to see what will happen is good policy.
