Driving into the sea, and resettlement, are two different things. Nevertheless, the Likud has accepted the formulation "land for peace" for years, and as early as the administration of Yitzakh Shamir was willing to let the West Bank devolve into Palestinian hands on the formula "autonomy plus", that is, something greater than being a part of Israel, but less than having a fully independent military or foreign policy. As for the Palestinian Authority, it has looked the other way, and in some instances abetted, human bombs in Israel, and deserves whatever it has gotten.

In case it escaped your attention, we opposed those resolutions, and vetoed some when necessary, as a permanent member of the Security Council. It is one thing for us to act consistently with our stated position, and another for the UN to claim jurisdiction, make resolutions, and then fail to enforce them........
