Possible flip side view of MAXpain in this market:

Remember what happened to end of month window-dressing at end of August.. it didn't really happen, and instead just set things up for a strong downdraft.

I do believe in manipulation effects of all sorts, but all the manipulation may be overrun by selling if things look bad enough (and an argument could certainly be made that they do..).

If all they manage this week is to barely keep the market on a narrow ledge, it may just contribute to a sharper decline; I would not even be surprised if it started before Friday is over, as they all just throw in the towel.

Thursday or at latest Friday morning could be a great time to short if one gives lots of credence to the MAXpain theory. Unfortunately for me, I'm already holding puts that are promising but too close to my entries to trade. If I was short stocks I may also have traded out partly today or tomorrow.
