When God made cows out of steaks, it was a message for us all.

But speaking of negative campaigning, there is a self-serving "feel good" myth created by the liberal media that-after two candidates attack each other with negative copy for an entire season-it leaves one standing, who "lacks a mandate". Not true. The loser is as much a loser as he ever will be-and has to retreat somewhere where the stink can wear off. But the winner has power conferred on him, and a base of support that is more determined than ever.

Personally I prefer negative campaigning because:

1) It shows who's gonna FOLD under pressure. You don't want that guy, even if he agrees with you. Remember Ed Muskie breaking down and crying in N.H.? No more "Muskie for President", and thank God for THAT!

2) It weeds out most of the pain-in-the-ass "independents" who have no damn business voting anyway if they know so little about the real world, and have so little self-respect, that they can call themselves "middle-of-the-roaders".

Of course, #2 could work to my side's advantage this year, because 9-11-01 took a whole truckload of "middle-of-the-roaders" to the right shoulder, and has dumped many of the rest in the left-hand ditch, from which they are unlikely to turn out.

So in Colorado...
