what amazes me is they find buyers for this stuff ...

We had a car loan "security" (ponzi) outfit locally here lose a few hundred million of folks money when it got investigated by state securities folks -- now burned investors are lining up to get equity in the new company hoping to get more than .02 on the dollar if all goes well -- dumb, dumb, dumb -- even that they would be allowed to do such a thing after perpetrating the fraud that they have -- UB!!

You should have seen the ads in the paper advertising this stuff (my Dad got out right before they imploded) -- it sounded just a little bit riskier than a CD (except for the additional 4-5% they were paying, of course). They were insured against losses in the loan portfolio ... what a friggin' crock.
