I will miss that old Cracker, Florida Governor Lawton Chiles, whose 'Southernisms' were always more apt than any other speechifyin' coulda been. He was the first I heard use the term "that dog won't hunt."

A couple of others:

"a cut dog barks."

"the old he-coon walks just before the light of day."
