Should a CEO of a major corporation, focus on getting portion of an estimated $5.7b for his shareholders? Of course if you're Scott McSquealy, you pay whatever the price is to stick it to Microsoft, and ignore your shareholders. No, he should be trying to get his shareholders a lot more than that, which is exactly what he is doing by trying to loosen the monopolistic hold of the gangsters that "stick it" to the whole world. --QS

I personally think it's smart. Again, you need to purchase computers to run that suite, and just think. For every 5.7 billion that Sun donates, Microsoft loses more than 5 times that in possible revenue. The only way to break Microsoft's stranglehold on software is to take them into a price war that Microsoft can't win.... you give it away for free.
