One has to really wonder WHY he hasn't addressed his previous comments 4 years ago, versus his comments of today...$400,000 for a documentary about Iraq shouldn't be enough to compromise a "patriot".....

Karen,

I could actually care less about the Ritter arguments but I did happen to watch him for a few minutes on Crossfire last night. He answered the contradictions by placing his earlier statements in historical context. Sounded plausible. But I didn't listen carefully and couldn't repeat it now. Particularly, since I've decided to save the brain cells that would be used for this debate for other issues.

My impression of Ritter, however, was not terribly favorable. Way too over the top for my tastes.

But that has nothing to do with veracity of his arguments.

His reply was that he has maxed out 3 credit cards.
Is reimbursed by a few think tanks and other organizations (can't remember the name) for travel and expenses on certain efforts.
Iraq the country paid nothing. They allowed his entry and to address one of their congresses or parliments.

The American citizen of Iraqi heritage funded the $400,000. for the documentary which he hopes will get distribution.

Says all his records and tax returns are open.

Hi KLP,

Depending on the scope of the thing, $400K may not even be enough to complete the film. You can burn through 400K pretty fast with international airfares, lodging, transport, etc. for crews, several months worth of salaries for everybody from the director to the writer to the executive producer to the editor, post-production costs, etc, etc.

What's left over isn't likely to make anybody rich.

Believe me, I know all too well. :)

Reminds me of the movie

Indecent Proposal (1993) >>>>Talk about expensive dates! Billionaire Robert Redford pays for a doozy when, for a cool $1 million, he proposes to a very married Demi Moore that they spend a single night together. Moore's husband (Woody Harrelson) is a cash-strapped, down-on-his-luck architect who could use the dough to keep their beach house from defaulting to the bank. Will she, or won't she?<<<<<
