Meanwhile the Pittsburgh Metropolitan area has grown rapidly in that Time. Oh, and remember that Pittsburgh's city limits never expanded to incorporate every adjoining city like most major cities. Pittsburgh's ability to grow population is skewed when compared to cities that have incorporated its' neighbors. FWIW, Pittsburgh is among the 36 largest Metro areas in the USA........koreansoft.com Actually Pittsburgh's Metro area is ranked 21st as of 2000.metrocouncil.org "those studies are pure crapp, Tim" You, most folks living in lower rated cities generally perceive the same thing. Unfortunately, Pittsburgh consistently ranks amongst the best cities in the USA & receives outstanding ratings consistently by multiple independent organizations using their own wide range of ratings criteria."this is a ghetto come visit the city sometime, and get out of the nice distant suburbs" I worked in downtown Pittsburgh for more than a decade...... until 2 1/2 years ago. I worked in multiple sites within the city as part of my job. I still get into Pittsburgh regularly. IMVHO, Pittsburgh is arguably one of the most beautiful cities I have been to & my job took me to numerous cities & I have personally visited a number of other cities on my own. Sure Pittsburgh has blight like all cities. IMVHO, it has far less than most cities I have visited. Those ratings organizations clearly support my obversations Jim."I know your argument against Boston and NewEngland but for a 50-mile swatch radius around Boston, beyond the actual city, it is nice, wellkept, good schools, and hardly a ghetto to spot anywhere" You, Boston is a wonderful city. I think Pittsburgh is a far better place overall. I won't berate Boston just because I like Pittsburgh better though."this Pitt is an effing pit ghetto masquerading as a city local property taxes are skyrocketing" I agree the property taxes are a mess. However Pittsburgh is not as bad as other cities & we have a fairly decent police, fire & rescue & paramedic system. Our streets are fairly clean, crime is very low & our taxes at least are used to provide decent parks & services...... unlike many large cities with ridiculous taxes & pathetic city services. So there :-\
