But you are such an upright guy, from what you tell everyone. Why didn't your declaration stick? It was said with such feeling. And you did stay away for a while. What on Earth made you come back? I could hunt up the declaration- i didn't have to lie about it :-)

Jewel, I stayed out of this because I could not offer textual support (too hard to search, and I was a bit busy), and my recollection is fuzzy (I am not even sure I was around when this occurred), so I figured I could not resolve the controversy, but only prolong it. Since you seemed to have a handle on things, it did not seem as if you were in need of special assistance. Besides, anyone can have an inexact memory of things, in fact, both of you could, it is not necessarily something worth fighting over. I do not believe you are lying, but I am not convinced X is either, so why would I stir the pot? I have cautioned against calling people liars since the Clinton thread: too many instances of posted falsehood are probably due to mistake, like faulty memory, or, in any case, have a plausible alternative explanation. I wish that people would not be so quick to jump to the conclusion of bad faith. Anyway, that is my two cents, directed not only to the principals, but to the peanut gallery.......
