I met Perls once when he gave a talk at the University of Miami during my undergraduate years in 1968, the auditorium was packed, it was like God Himself coming to speak, it was a huge event... I never met him personally nor did ever I go to Esalen, but I read all his books and during my two year clinical internship I studied Gestalt... the Gestalt therapist at the clinic offered training in the method, the trainer had been to Esalen... the only way to obtain the training was to participate in a group Gestalt session designed for the professionals at the clinic, sort of hands on learning... that was a six month training session and I learned an enormous amount about the method and about myself as well... the therapist and his wife became good friends of ours, me and my wife... yes, most definitely, Fritz was a most amazing individual, his death in 1970 was a great loss to all his friends and to the psychology community in general...
