Neither you nor I know what they are doing, but we know for a fact that some of them will always be busy carrying this and that all over the world, because we have military stationed all over the world, from Alaska to Antarctica. " Of course some are at sea. Some are always at sea. But this is quite the retreat from your earlier position, which was that the hiring of foreign cargo ships by the MSC was an indication that the MSC had run out of its home grown capability. Here, I'll remind you of what your line of reasoning was earlier: CobaltBlue, September 17, 2002MSC Fast Sealift ro-ro vessels carry around 26000 long tons deadweight tonnage, but that's everything, including the passengers and fuel. Big suckers. Almost as big as an aircraft carrier. ... The point being that they don't have to charter these babies, they already have them on lengthy (20 year) charters. So the fact that they need to charter MORE vessels should tell you something. Tells me something, anyway . #reply-18002585 What you're admitting now is that your implication "the fact that they need to charter MORE vessels" was wrong. Or why don't you explain exactly what those charters did tell you, BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! LOL!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Re: "I already told you what it would take to convince me that the Pentagon hasn't taken more MSC vessels out of mothballs. Call MSC up and ask them. " MSC is a reserve force just like the Army reserves. They have to be activated by acts of the President just like the Army. Those acts are public, just like with the Reserves. There has only been one ship activated for anything other than training, and only the usual handful of ships activated for training. I don't need to call them up because their situation is public knowledge. It's all over the web, for God's sake. If the President had secretly (illegally) activated the RRF the news would be all over the place. Instead of reading in Debka about how the MSC chartered some 3,000 ton ship you'd be reading in Debka (and everywhere else) that the President had secretly activated the RRF. Instead, all you get is minor BS about charters that have been going on for decades. These are huge ships that are berthed in the same semi-public places for years at a time. When they are moved it shows up like "the bastard at the family reunion" (another standard southernism) in even commercial quality satellite photography. Their presence at docks is not secret, but instead is public knowledge. After I catch up with the thread and my usual news I'll eventually post an article indicating the status of the RRF, and showing why it would be impossible to secretly activate them without making big time waves. -- Carl
