The problem is that neurological disease is not properly defined. If one reads about the balance of brain chemistry, the brain is a self-modifying organ. I'd go further and say that not only is it self modifying, but environmentally modified as well. We all laughed at the Twinkie defense (I did as well). The reasonable doubt introduced there was that blood sugar levels DO affect people. Perhaps that was an extreme case, but if you've got kids, sugar does wind them up. Religious fervor probably modifies brain structure and chemistry as well.
