I believe that the demand for H1B visa workers was more of a fiscal desire. I am guessing that there are a lot more tech workers out there who are willing to take a pay cut to get a job.

I don't have a strong feeling about this. Believe it or not, I am more of an "open border" type of guy, but I suspect that this may become a hot button before too long as unemployment rates continue to rise.

Alan,

Most of the H1's that I have known are not leaving the country within the 30 day period of being laid off. What they are doing is beyond me. Additionally, virtually no high tech companies in my area are willing to consider a sponsorship candidate unless the position has proven impossible to fill.
