You had tossed off this cavalier remark: "E comes to mind -- she takes everything so seriously, as though what happens here matters in the least in the scope of human endeavor" But you now state a number of reasons that apparently matter a great deal to you given the inordinate amount of time you appear to give to the medium: recreation, entertainment, enlightenment, etc. For someone who was being so dismissive of it you have listed some pretty serious and necessary benefits. Perhaps what you were doing in that other post was simply trying to take a side-swipe at E. Yes, that seems to be it, doesn't it?
