The eavesdropping sounds like a necessary part of the inspection process though.

Indeed, once evidence came to light that, despite the previous years of inspections, that Saddam had continued to lie to the UN and UNSCOM inspectors about his WMD programs, which opened up a whole new realm of justification for being intrusive.

I thought that most folks understood that this is what Ritter has been complaining about when he mentions UNSCOM monitors having been US "spies" (he himself is a former USMC intelligence officer).

And you know what? We're going to be even MORE intrusive this time around.

Saddam LOST his right to be secretive and self-serving when he invaded Iraq. He NOW must do whatever is required to prove that he is not a threat to his neighbors or the US.
