<Still, telecoms operators could have invested earlier and more in more efficient 3G networks if European governments had not charged some 100 billion euros for 3G radio spectrum licenses. Many carriers are now in deep financial difficulties. > Message 18023889

That's right. They held an auction and didn't tell us how much to spend, so we bid E100 billion against each other and kept going until we didn't have any more money to bid.

Now we haven't got any money to build networks. It's not our fault we bid so much. The government should have told us how much to bid because they should know we are Mindless Zombies who can't figure out things like how much to pay for spectrum.

It's not fair if some other company buys our bankrupt assets, tells our creditors to take a hike, fires us and builds cdma2000 networks based on GSM1x in 800MHz.

The government should tell us what to do, tell us what networks to build and tell subscribers how much to pay and everything. How the heck are Mindless Zombies supposed to figure out all that stuff?

Zomby

PS: All that 3G stuff is now pointless anyway according to Nokia. They say that GPRS is good enough. So how come they were banging on about 3G for a decade and how W-CDMA would be the greatest thing since sliced bread? It's not fair that Nokia told us that they'd have all that hot stuff W-CDMA and now they don't. How were we supposed to know that they were telling porkies since 1996 when Nokia and Ericsson were claiming to have invented this really cool W-CDMA thingy? Woe is us. Ericsson reckoned they invented CDMA back in 1880 or something and told us this 3G stuff was gonna be so cool. Now we are in trouble.

That's funny!

"Russia's second-largest oil company will continue to ship crude directly to the United States... ...and U.S. officials hailed the delivery as a step toward reducing dependence on the Middle East for energy."

I have a strong belief that much of this "Russian" oil is actually coming from Iraqi oil wells, bypassing the oil for food program.
