Lay and Skilling would have had to pay what the law required. The law requires them to pay A LOT on the income they made, probably 40-50%, just like any other high income earners.

On the point about corporations, they are not people, they are entities. They have the power to employ and must withhold taxes and pay payroll taxes for each employee. If they make a profit, they pay taxes. How difficult is that to understand.
