The Xilinx Spartan-II FPGA is used to implement real-time digital image processing such as contrast stretch and image reversal from an embedded camera. This flexible platform enables interactive testing and upgrading of algorithms such as image inversion and edge as they are confirmed to be beneficial through clinical trials.
