Re: "What did we do to deserve this?" Unfortunately, my friend, 9-11-01 played right into the hands of the bellicose cabal of Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld. Now we're pursuing some third-rate f*ck-knuckle dictator in Baghdad (did you know there's also a Baghdad, Kentucky?) who may or may not have had direct ties to the Saudi religious right-wingers who attacked us on 9-11-01. I caught part of Rumsfeld's act on C-Span tonight. Both he and Cheney are reiterating that we must "connect the dots," and that "what we don't know is as important as what we do know, etc." Republicans need clear enemies like Saddam to remain in power. The whole notion that we're going to take Saddam out quickly, with little loss of life, and quickly install a pro-United States government is absurd. Even Jesse Ventura said as much on "Hardball" tonight in front of a student audience at the University of Minnesota.
