NZ$13/kg lamb roast with bone in. NZ$16 without bone.

That's US$6 and $8/kg approx = US$3/lb or $4/lb with bone in.

You can see here - have to search "lamb" then go to roasts etc. Have a look around.

woolworths.co.nz

That's an online supermarket and prices are about the same as going to the shop. Those are about normal.

Catch your own sheep on a farm for less than that of course.

Looks as though you are paying the globalized price [there's a shipping cost from here to the USA needs to be added to our retail prices].

But you get cheaper cdma2000 service and cheaper handsets and cheaper long distance and cheaper cars [but more expensive houses and ridiculously expensive bread].

Globalisation is happening. It's a global village. We can't even keep our daughters safe nowadays, let alone our sheep and fish [747s are polluting the planet with foreigners' DNA and container ships are taking all the good stuff to high-priced consumers in USA/Japan - we can't afford $13 a kilogram for snapper, not on US$5 per hour.] It used to be the hills on the horizon kept us safe. No more!
