Exactly to the point, 150K probably means you and your wife are both successful professional people and all you can buy with traditional metrics of house borrowing is a garden apartment. This is the disconnect that is most telling.

P.S. I was just reading in the Boston Globe yesterday that fig newtons are actually named after the town, hmmm amazing fact, I did not know that.....
