I appreciate it. ************ In today's House Armed Services committee hearings, one of the Democratic Reps. stated that King George has recently issued an Executive Order rescinding hazard pay for the military. Now, soldiers will be expected to put themselves in harm's way for the same pay as if they were pulling KP stateside. Have you heard about this? Do you happen to have the E.O. #? In the face of the astonishing waste on the latest white elephant, boondoggle and profit center for Rummy's pals, the National Missile Defence system, it seems like a real slap in the face of the rank-and-file in the military that Bush would curtail hazard pay and overtime pay in such a cavalier and high-handed manner. Seems like a dangerous move toward the idiotic aristocratic views that raised the ire of so many in centuries past. France in 1780 comes to mind here. ************************ Re: J.P. Morgan -- I always like to reflect on their effort to hire Smedley Butler to perpetrate a coup d'etat against FDR. I think this puts things in perspective. Will Morgan fail? I'd say it's extremely unlikely. As a key owner of the Federal Reserve Bank, Morgan has vast financial machinery at its beck and call. As Mark Twain quipped, "Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated." ************************************ Re: FLORIDA -- Jeb Bush et al call on John Trashcroft to "help". This is hysterically funny. In the aftermath of the 2000 elections, the NAACP made hundreds of claims about voter harassment, irregularities, Republican scrubbing of voter lists, mis-characterization of party affiliation and other shenanigans orchestrated by Bush and Cruella Harris. Of these hundreds of valid claims, the DoJ decided to move forward on........ three claims. The partisanship displayed by the DoJ makes them a joke. Here's a very good file on the GHP chicanery and deceit surrounding the 2000 election in Florida: gregpalast.com All the best, Ray :)
