Yes, to some extent. Ion channel assays are subset of what ProCell could do by different means. Other competitors are Aurora, Aviva, Caliper, PKI, etc. What I haven't seen is much talk about how high the throughput of each system is. It's probably around in review articles, but the abstracts don't get to that subject.

FWIW, MDCC also is releasing (or maybe already has released) a medium throughput version that does 50 - 100 test per day. It has estimated its ion channel market opportunity at $500 million and figures that 1500 labs are doing manual patch clamping. This from a conference call over six months old.
