MEDIA LAPDOGS

Thomas,

Recent media savvy visitors from Russia to the U.S. have been astounded at how servile the corporate media is here. They say that the degree of suppression of dissenting voices exceeds even that bad old days of "Pravda" in the USSR.

These folks make a good living exposing this rotten situation:

"The site that set out to bring the media to their knees - but found they were already there. "

I have some personal experience in this matter. Over the past several months, I am aware that the President of Society of Professional Journalists has been receiving, via email, a steady stream of stories that the corporate media suppresses. He has not acted on a single one of them. They've all just been stuffed into the trashcan. This is the height of the Fourth Estate. This is the organization that has many members with Pulitezer Prizes. This is the organization that is disregarding the truth in the cynical way of courtiers and scribes of old, who know that their access and influence is of a subservient nature to the powers that they serve. It's a rather shameful situation in America when we absolutely can rely on our media to spin us, lie to us and hide the important issues of the day under a veil of distractions.

While the real news will never make it into SPJ writings, they will gladly participate in a program of disinformation and propaganda being perpetrated by the Office of Global Communications:
