Jim Rogers, who used to be a frequent guest on CNBS, started the Rogers Raw Materials Fund (RRMF) in 1997. It's a commodity index fund that's up 42 percent over the last five years.
(He didn't do that as a way to make big bucks but as a way to show that stocks are not always the best place for one's money, short-term or long-term).
Now, of course, commodities had a good run this summer with the farm bill and the drought in the Midwest, and oil is up on tension in the Mideast. So now is not the time, IMO. I live in the Midwest, and it rained all day today.
I say the dump in the equities market goes on into October, but I would beware of something, I don't know what, after that to trigger another phoney rally late in the year or early next year.
Fair value on the Dow is about 6,000 or a little less, in my opinion. I do not know how to value the Nazdog at this point.
