I bought into it when everything was working and we were coming out with innovative products, but now we've reached the what have you done for me lately stage. It's pretty obvious that what businesses/consumers have is working for them pretty well. Well enough that they are able to forego additional tech purcahses for the most part. It's going to take something awfully good for these guys to lay down the big bucks. I think the days of having to keep up with the Jones is over for a while, except in the housing and auto markets. And the auto markets are killing themselves with the 0%. Folks without jobs have a hard time buying either.

Hmm. You make good points, Lizzie, but options only work at retention when stock prices are going up. After 3 years of stock prices going down, how many people holding options really think they'll ever be worth anything? I bet you most would give up their options for a better salary, if given the chance. When times are tough, a bird in hand is better than two in the bush.

OT ... And imo options are already completely reflected in the fully diluted EPS.

Your opinion is incorrect. Option compensation is a cost to the company. Earnings dilution is the cost of options to existing shareholders .. over and above the compensation cost.
