Education boss quits Apple

Thursday - September 19, 2002
Apple's former vice president of education products Cheryl Vedoe has quit the company to a post at Apex Learning, a US provider of online courses for high schools.

She will become president and CEO of the company. Most recently she served as president of Apple's PowerSchool division. Apex Learning was launched in 1997 by Microsoft co-founder, Paul Allen.

"With Cheryl's experience as a general manager and knowledge of educational technology, she is the ideal leader for Apex Learning as the company accelerates its efforts to help states, school districts and schools successfully use online learning to improve student outcomes," said Stephen Distler, Apex Learning's chairman of the board.

Vedoe said: "Technology has fundamentally changed the opportunities available for students to learn. Apex Learning is well positioned to lead this change by ensuring all high-school students have access to quality online education experiences."

"To really innovate, they've got to have a killer app for Mac," she said.

Jeff Hayden - So. To win schools, get the kids back, and increase share, Apple MUST get itself reseeded back into businesses with better products than offered by Wintel. Then Dads will decide their kids have to use Macs to survive in the world.....

OSX is a pretty good start.
