You have supported my view of the situation. You talk about "in the name of religion". In the Middle East, Muslims are Arabs. Maybe, there isn't a nation, but they are bound by language and religion. The mosque area has fallen into Jewish hands. The 1967 war was not to protect the mosque area but to destroy Israel. The war failed and the mosque area was lost. The reprisals for the suicide attacks are less harsh and less destructive than the attacks themselves. Israel is the stronger combatant, so they certainly could produce much harsher reprisals. As you point out, the "conflict in the name of religion" and "the land is always there", both support my belief that there will be nothing gained by compromise. Israel must produce reprisals that are harser and more destructive and serve as a deterrent. These reprisals should not be about more killings, but should make the Palestinians objectives more and more impossible.
